Key takeaways
- Japanese fashion for women spans MUJI and Uniqlo basics, SNIDEL’s dressy sets and Onitsuka Tiger shoes.
- MUJI is the simplest to order here, with US stores and a web store.
- GU shares Uniqlo’s parent company, and Beams sells its own lines beside other labels.
- No confirmed US route? Check the label’s own shipping page before you buy.
Japanese fashion for women runs from quiet basics to dressy sets. On my map, MUJI and Uniqlo hold down the basics and SNIDEL takes the dressy end. Onitsuka Tiger has your feet covered. I sorted it by reading each label’s shipping, company and product pages side by side.
The range is wide. At one end, the Zewearsy roundup’s Uniqlo entry runs from ultra-light AIRism tees to the Heattech thermal line for colder months. At the other, SNIDEL calls itself a world-renowned label known for luxury petite fashion.
Which Japanese brands can you order from the US?
Four names here have an official US store or site. Everything marked unconfirmed means none of my sources showed an official US route, so check the label’s own site before you believe a roundup that says it ships here.
| Name | What it is | Official US route |
|---|---|---|
| MUJI | Brand | US stores and a web store |
| SNIDEL | Brand | US online store |
| Onitsuka Tiger | ASICS trademark | US brand site |
| Beams | Its own lines plus other labels | Beams America web store |
| GU | Shares Uniqlo’s parent company | Unconfirmed |
| earth music&ecology | Stripe International brand | Unconfirmed |
| EMODA | MARK STYLER label | Unconfirmed |
| ZOZOTOWN | Links brands’ stores and web shops | Unconfirmed |
If you’ve seen Comme des Garçons or Sacai on other lists, they’re off this map for now. I couldn’t tie a US price or stockist to either with a receipt behind it, so start at the label’s own stockist list, never a reseller.
Is Uniqlo Japanese, and where do GU and MUJI fit?
Yes. Uniqlo’s parent company, Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., lists its head office in Yamaguchi City, Japan. GU is the sibling. The Zewearsy roundup says it’s owned by the same parent company as Uniqlo. My sources didn’t show a US route for GU, so begin any GU search on its official site rather than a reseller. MUJI, on the other hand, spells out its US rules in unusual detail.
MUJI USA
- Stores: 127 E 59th Street and 20 Hudson Yards in New York, plus Brooklyn, Cambridge, Boston and Portland, Oregon
- Web store: delivers to the contiguous states, Alaska, Hawaii and over 40 countries
- Shipping: from a New Jersey warehouse by FedEx, USPS or UPS, tracking included
- Free standard shipping: from $50 in California, Washington, Texas, Florida, Illinois, Virginia, Pennsylvania and D.C.
That’s the whole route, visible before checkout, and it’s why this is where we’d point a first-timer. Heads-up, though: oversized items only go to the contiguous states, so don’t plan on sending a bulky piece to Alaska or Hawaii.
The feminine lane: SNIDEL, earth music&ecology and EMODA
SNIDEL is the dressy one with a US store. The other two are worth knowing by name, but their US routes are still open questions.
SNIDEL
SNIDEL sums up its style as “Street meets Formal,” fusing street culture with elegance. Its US store lists a knit top and skirt set at $222 as of September 2026. By the label’s own account, it’s known for petite fashion, so check the length on the size chart first if you’re tall.
earth music&ecology
Stripe International describes it as a natural, youthful brand for women, running from fashionable outfits to work clothes and casual wear. That office-to-weekend range is the appeal (one label, fewer outfit decisions). A US route didn’t turn up in my sources, so confirm one before you fall for a piece.
EMODA
EMODA’s official business page, in Japanese, names MARK STYLER Co., Ltd. behind the label and says it’s recruiting corporate and franchise partners. Treat any list that says it ships to the US as a claim to check.
Onitsuka Tiger and the ASICS connection
Onitsuka Tiger’s official US site says the name is a registered trademark of ASICS Corporation. Same family, then (and about as easy as parent companies get to trace, since it’s printed right on the brand’s homepage). The site describes one of its shoes as “a carefully crafted pair that showcases Japanese craftsmanship”.
Is Beams a brand or a store?
Both. Per the Zewearsy roundup, Beams stores carry its original lines plus international brands. Its US web store, Beams America, offers free standard delivery on orders over $250, with restrictions. When a tag there names another label, size by that label’s chart, because the store’s name tells you nothing about fit. ZOZOTOWN sits one step further from a brand. ZOZO describes services that connect ZOZOTOWN with brands’ physical stores and their web shops, so read it as a mall.
Which label fits what you’re after?
Match the label to the job, then follow the link where we’ve gone deeper.
- Quiet basics: MUJI or Uniqlo.
- Dressy sets: SNIDEL, with a size-chart check if you’re tall.
- Plus sizes: Shimamura. The Zewearsy roundup says it carries plus sizes and all sorts of fits, which it notes isn’t always the case in Japan.
- Trend pieces: GRL, which the same roundup says ships internationally for a small fee (and sometimes runs free-shipping promos).
- Loungewear: a whole category of its own, mapped brand by brand in our Japanese loungewear guide.
- Gelato Piqué in particular: start with the collections worth buying this fall.
- Shoes: Onitsuka Tiger.
Vet any Japanese brand in four checks
Shipping page first, then the garment chart, then the currency math. It works on names that aren’t on this map, too.
- Shipping page. A good one names the warehouse and the carriers. MUJI USA’s does both, and adds that international orders go by UPS.
- Garment chart. Ignore the letter on the tag. Compare the listed measurements with a piece you already own, measured flat.
- Yen math. The Zewearsy roundup converts 3,000 yen to about $20. Check today’s rate before you trust any converted price.
- Parent company. A corporate page settles who runs a label, the way Stripe International’s brand list and EMODA’s business page do.
If a brand fails the first check, move on to one that passes.

Where to go next
For the cozier corner of Japanese fashion, read our guide to Japanese loungewear brands, fabrics and prices, the Gelato Piqué collections to buy this fall and which celebrities have worn Gelato Pique. Otherwise, pick one row from the map, open that label’s shipping page and start with check one.
Frequently asked questions
Are Japanese clothes cheaper if you buy them in Japan?
The yen tag can look lower, but it leaves out international shipping and any extra fees. Compare the full delivered cost with the US price before you decide.
Does free size mean one size fits all?
Don’t count on it. Skip the letter on the tag, open the garment chart on the product page and compare it with a top you already own, measured flat.
Can MUJI USA ship to an APO or FPO address?
No. MUJI USA’s shipping page says it does not ship to AFP and FPO addresses, so use a stateside address instead.
Can I still get express shipping from MUJI USA?
No. MUJI USA says express shipping has not been available since August 8, 2022, so plan around standard delivery.
Should I buy Japanese brands from third-party marketplace sellers?
Start with the brand’s official store or site. A third-party listing can’t vouch for authenticity or sizing the way the brand’s own product page can.
